Dixie, Glamping, Elsing, Rural Norfolk

Glamping, Esling, Rural Norfolk

Oozing character and hidden surprises, Dixie is a repurposed horse box set in a wonderful wild flower meadow in Elsing. Complete with a beautifully crafted bathroom, king-size bed and decking with views over the rolling countryside, it makes the most fantastic place for a relaxing break.

Dixie is made up of three parts; the main horsebox which is home to the living area, an undercover top deck attached to the horsebox and a separate bathroom. There are a set of steps heading up to the first floor decking where you are greeted by a set of french doors that lead inside to the living space. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with a fridge-freezer, four hob grill and oven and a large Belfast sink providing everything you need for cooking up a storm. There is a handcrafted yew slab with a couple of chairs, if you fancy dining inside; along with a wood burner sits opposite the kitchenette, stocked with logs to keep you toasty in the cooler evenings. To the rear of the lorry is a sofa and tucked neatly above, accessed by a ladder, is a king-size bed. Dixie is also complete with different lighting options, USB sockets and a Bluetooth sound system.

Either up a set of steps from the outside or from inside the horsebox through the hobbit door, you are led to the top deck which is undercover with a wonderful pig arc shelter roof. Here you can chill and watch the wildlife go by, or sit in the swinging chair with a good book.

Set to one side of the lorry is a large bathroom. The sink is its own work of art, crafted from a slab of yew with a stone sink held up by twisted ivy lengths. There is a large walk-in shower and a composting WC. On the other side of the lorry is a firepit area, with plenty of seating and BBQ griddle and equipment.
